We need to learn more about COVID-19 to stop it. The goal is to identify the infection, transmission and track the patients in NYC. Researchers at Mount Sinai tracking COVID-19 in New York City with STOP COVID NYC. The app uses web-based surveys to collect data from New Yorkers. It investigates the demographics, symptoms, history of exposure and risk factors. Once the patterns of infection and transmission unique to the population in New York City is recognized, we’ll also use the data to notify health care providers regarding rising outbreaks and clusters in particular communities. This will help us to better distribute resources for growing patient numbers. The data can also help with broader or ongoing campaigns in public health.
